What is USA Biology Olympiad? (USABO)

USA Biology Olympiad (USABO) is a nationwide competition where a solo competitor takes a 50 question exam relating to biology topics on the Art of Problem Solving website. You can find their main website here. Their website contains more information and resources for preparing for the exam. Endrit Ramku is the branch leader of USABO at West High. If you have further questions, email him at enram27@icstudents.org. The cost is free for all students wishing to take the exam. 

If you registered independently with the link posted in the announcement banner, you are expected to reach out to confirm your registration with Endrit. 

Key Dates

West High Bio Club All Team Meeting: Friday, September 19th during AFT.

USABO Team Registration: Wednesday, October 1st during AFT. Deadline to register is November 8th.

USABO Mock Exam: November 11th after school. Art of Problem Solving registration will also be done on this date.

USABO Practice Exam Opens: January 6th, 2026. Team members must take this individually.

USABO Open Exam: Wednesday, February 4th at 3:00PM CT

USABO Open Exam results: Monday, February 23rd, 2026. Test takers that score in the top 10% nationally advance to semifinals. 

USABO Semifinal Exam: Wednesday, March 4th at 3:00PM CT
